COUNTRY STAR CLINT BLACK TO ENTERTAIN AT SILVER LEGACY MAN OF MANY “BLACK” HATS; SINGER, SONGWRITER, MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST AND ACTOR
Wednesday December 7, 2011
Like many before him, Clint Black began his career playing nightclubs and honky-tonks in Texas. What sets apart this cowboy from the rest is perseverance. It’s this perseverance that lead Black to sign with RCA Records in 1987.
In 1989 with his triple platinum album, Killin’ Time, he scored four straight # 1’s. An undisputed country classic album, Killin’ Time sold two million copies and spawned singles “Better Man,” “Nobody’s Home,” “Walkin’ Away” and “Killin’ Time.” Additionally that year, Black won Country Music Association’s Horizon Award, and was named top male vocalist and Academy of Country Music Album of the Year. Put Yourself in My Shoes followed in 1990 and quickly went triple platinum. Since then, Black has had nearly two dozen #1 hit singles and almost as many Top 5 and Top 10 hits-all of them his original composition, which is itself a notable rarity in popular music. In fact, Black has written, recorded and released more than 100 songs, a major benchmark in any artist’s career.
Black has recorded at least eight additional albums including One Emotion in 1995, also platinum certified, with hit “Untanglin’ My Mind” and a Merle Haggard co-write, D’elctrified, in 1999. This, a release of acoustic instruments, featured guest appearances by some of Black’s idols including Waylon Jennings, Kenny Loggins and Eric Idle.
Additionally, Black has forayed into film and television including the television movie Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack, Celebrity Apprentice and ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Addition.
This multi-dimensional artist is a must-see. Join Clint Black in the Grande Exposition Hall on Friday, February 3 at 8pm.
