BILL COSBY TO PERFORM MAY 18Few entertainers have achieved the legendary status of Bill Cosby whose career spans five decades and virtually every media. Awarded everything from Grammy Awards to Emmy Awards to the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award and nearly everything in between, guests can expect side-splitting stories on everything from parenting to culture. And he is right here at Silver Legacy’s Grande Exposition Hall on Friday, May 18 at 8pm. Cosby made his first TV appearance in 1965 on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and from there landed a role in the espionage series I Spy, which made him the first black actor to perform in a starring dramatic role on network television. This series, which portrayed him as a black secret agent, won him three Emmy Awards. Cosby’s subsequent projects for television included the series The Bill Cosby Specials, situation comedy The Bill Cosby Show and the variety show The New Bill Cosby Show and the successful cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. It was during that time that The Cosby Show appeared on NBC and was almost an instant success. From 1985 to 1987 the show broke viewing records with Cosby becoming perhaps the strongest driving force in television during the eighties. The show had broad cross-culture appeal and won several major awards. Additionally, Cosby remains committed to education and was awarded a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts with his doctoral thesis titled “The Integration of Visual Media Via Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids Into Elementary Schools.” His comedy records have earned him eight Grammy Awards, he is a best-selling author with the publication of his book Fatherhood, in 1986, and continues, with wife Camille, supporting many philanthropic causes.  Join Silver Legacy in welcoming one of the greatest comedians of all time, Bill Cosby, live in the Grande Exposition Hall on Friday, May 18 at 8pm.
