Relax. Refresh. Renew. The Spa at Silver Legacy is Open
For Immediate ReleaseThu, Oct 4, 2018
RENO, Nev. (Oct. 4, 2018)—The Spa at Silver Legacy, northern Nevada’s eminent wellness and luxury destination, opens today, celebrating Reno-Tahoe through holistic spa treatments, innovative architecture, local purveyors and signature scents mixed from indigenous plants. Part of THE ROW’s master renovation of over $100 million, The Spa incorporates The Salon, offering premier services in hair, skin and beauty; The Boutique, offering luxury fashion accessories and premium wellness essentials; and the Fitness Center, featuring virtual reality trails on state-of-the-art Technogym™ equipment.
The Spa’s team of renowned massage therapists, estheticians and hair and makeup artists commission the largest treatment facility in northern Nevada at 21,000 square-feet. The Spa includes three couples treatment rooms, four individual treatment rooms, five facial treatment rooms, three relaxation lounges, a salt inhalation chamber, seven hydrotherapy soaking tubs, two steam rooms and two saunas. Two private hospitality suites can be booked for bachelorette parties, bridal parties and other special events.
“I’ve opened lavish spas across the country and The Spa at Silver Legacy has an unparalleled majesty,” said George Powell-Lopez, Director of Spa and Wellness at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino. “The experience at The Spa far exceeds the treatments themselves, offering a holistic, unmistakable progression of wellness from the moment the elevator doors open.”
Powell-Lopez is joined by Spa Operations Manager Christina Alexander and Spa Therapist Supervisor Melinda Craig, offering over 45 years of combined experience in health and wellness.
Alexander’s background in business management and marketing complements 19 years of experience in wellness, hospitality and customer service. She managed the spa at the Ritz Carlton, Lake Tahoe and was the general manager of a local casino resort spa.
“Perfection in hospitality and service is what people remember,” said Alexander. “Here at The Spa at Silver Legacy, we excel in the details. Each treatment is thoughtfully crafted and specifically designed for the guest.”
Craig, a licensed massage therapist, has worked in various Reno spas and physical therapy centers since 2008, specializing in hot stone, deep tissue, Swedish and sports massage, body scrubs and wraps. Craig was the lead massage therapist at Silver Legacy’s previous health center and has 18 years of experience in body work, massage therapy and customer service.
Powell-Lopez and his team encourage guests to arrive one hour prior to their scheduled treatment times to enjoy the unique amenities in both the men’s and women’s relaxation rooms. For an elevated, intimate experience, The Spa can arrange limousine service with a Champagne toast, hospitality suite and spa concierge for groups of four or more who have at least two treatments scheduled per person.
Upon entrance, guests breathe in the custom-made aromas of white pine Coco La Vie candles, mixed with indigenous flora and fauna and are met with soft overhead music and expert hospitality.
“We want guests to feel serene and relaxed from the moment they walk inside,” said Bill Gustafson, vice president and general manager of THE ROW. “The architecture lures the guest from an intimate lobby setting to the grandeur of the city and mountain-scape, and along to peaceful relaxation areas.”
Once guests are escorted to a relaxation room, a spa concierge offers complimentary tea service by Davidson’s Organics, intentionally selected to enhance the specific treatment or purpose for relaxation.
Spa attendants provide recommended teas for each service. The signature Fiery Snow Massage, which incorporates traditional hot stone therapy and white cold marble stone chasers, is paired with Rooibos Chai Tea and is served in a marble tea kettle for two with mini almond biscotti. The Dirty Mess Detoxifying Body Treatment—an invigorating exfoliation with volcanic pumice and Coffee Arabica, a warm wrap with mineral-rich black silt clay and herbal extracts of Indian sarsaparilla and honey—is served with Mellow Mint Tulsi for a continued detox.
As guests enjoy the relaxation rooms, they are encouraged to visit the Salt of the Earthblending bar to create a personalized salt scrub which can be used in their treatment or taken home.
The salt inhalation chamber, designed to counteract the arid Nevada climate, allows guests to inhale negatively-charged ions to reduce inflammation and improve respiratory health. The women’s steam room, meant for a pre-treatment detox, is adorned with purple and pink pearlescent tiles; while the men’s hot tub releases muscular impurities prior to the massage.
“The healing begins in the relaxation rooms,” said Powell-Lopez. “Indoor and outdoor hot tubs offer a reverse cryogenic experience and salt inhalation has been proven to re-moisturize skin.”
Spa treatments range from classic massages, couples “duets,” body scrubs and wraps to facials, hair, nails and body waxing.
“The best moments in life are experienced in pairs,” said Powell-Lopez. “Our duets are the ultimate way to discover your Zen with someone you love.”
The Salon—a full-service hair, skin, nail and makeup center—allows guests to receive a full cut and color or primp before a special event. From blow-outs and up-dos, to vegan nail polish, The Salon is led by local cosmetologist, Bonny Lynn-Coté, who brings more than 25 years of experience, including academic and professional accolades in makeup, hair, skin and nails.
“There’s no greater joy than making someone feel beautiful,” said Lynn-Coté.
With professional cosmetics by Makeup Factory, The Spa leverages the brand’s exceptional highly pigmented colors to recreate runway looks. Natural lighting illuminates each station at The Salon, offering panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada.
Additional local and nationally acclaimed products at The Spa include Sorella Apothecary, a botanically-based skincare company in Reno; OM4 Men, a natural and organic product line designed specifically for men; and Naturopathica facial and body treatment products.
The Boutique offers various local and nationwide retail products using The Spa’s signature scents found in candles, lotions, oils, scrubs and hair care products. Luxury brands include Hampton Sun upscale sunscreens, T-spheres aromatherapy balls and Druzy jewelry by Monica Mauro.
After The Spa treatment has finished, guests are invited to enjoy the various amenities of the indoor-outdoor space, including an al fresco natatorium—a balcony pool with panoramic mountain views, cabanas and a fire feature.
Beyond The Spa’s treatment rooms lies the Fitness Center with state-of-the-art Technogym™ equipment for virtual reality cardio experience and Peloton™ cycling systems. Adjacent to the cardio room is a full weight-training system with natural lighting and private glass walls.
Local guests can take advantage of The Spa’s “LAP of Luxury” (Local Appreciation Program), offering high-end, complimentary upgrades with each spa treatment.
